Julie Antilla joined the School of Education at SPU after nearly two decades in public education in California. She worked as an elementary classroom teacher for seven years, a categorical program coordinator for three years, and a school principal for six years. For the last two years, she served as an MEd facilitator, teacher education program course instructor, and doctoral teaching assistant while writing her dissertation in Cultural Perspectives and Comparative Education. These experiences have helped prepare her for her role as associate professor of educational leadership at SPU.
Dr. Antilla’s research includes second language acquisition theories in classroom settings, supplemental learning opportunities for agriculturally migrant students, and whole person support for children with autism. She has presented at numerous conferences, and has written for journal publication, on these and related topics.
In addition to seeing her placement in public school settings as a missionary commission, Dr. Antilla has had the opportunity to serve in her local church as a Sunday school teacher, missions committee representative, and women’s ministries leader. She is excited to discover what opportunities await her and her family in the Seattle area.
